LAWYER – MEDIATOR
Mediation – Arbitration
Special Master – ADR Consultation
I have mediated and settled, as a professional mediator, many types of cases over the past twenty years. These disputes range from minimum limits vehicle accidents, which on occasion can be very difficult to resolve, to cases presenting complex legal and factual issues involving multiple parties and millions of dollars in alleged damages.
The primary purpose of ADR is, with the assistance of an experienced mediator, to settle the dispute prior to trial. I believe that the secondary and very important purpose of mediation is to provide the parties and their attorneys with a setting to evaluate the case and make an informed decision to settle or try the case, based on the status of the negotiations.
I have served as arbitrator in personal injury cases where I rule on the allocation of insurance proceeds among the claimants. I have also arbitrated boundary disputes between property owners and arbitrated lease term disputes.
I have been appointed to serve as a Special Court Master by district courts in numerous cases. Primarily, these cases involve making recommendations to the Court Regarding the entry of scheduling orders, complex discovery issues and, advising the Court on the allocation of settlement funds. My recommendations, adopted by the Court, regarding almost every Attorney-Client privilege exception and thousands of alleged privileged documents were upheld by the Texas 9th Court of Appeals.
I have consulted with parties in pre-litigation and litigation situations regarding case values and mediation strategy.
